Frequently Asked Questions

Can the insole be removed to use orthopedic shoe inserts?

Yes. The insole, made of Cambrelle or PU foam with dual-density shock absorber and microfiber lining, is removable.

Are Künzli Ortho® and Künzli Protect models recognized by health insurance and accident insurance companies?

Yes. The models are recognized as medical devices and can be reimbursed through health insurance or accident insurance, provided a corresponding prescription is available. The products are sold exclusively through our specialist retailers.

Can I order the Künzli Ortho® and Künzli Protect models from the online shop as a private individual?

Yes. The models can also be ordered as a self-payer, for example, if your insurance only covers two pairs per year and you need an additional pair, or if you want to wear Künzli Protect shoes prophylactically.

How do Künzli Ortho® shoes differ from Künzli Protect shoes?

Künzli Ortho® shoes are designed for medical requirements and indications and feature two longer stays on the medial and lateral sides. Künzli Protect shoes have one stay on each side and are robust everyday and work shoes. They are used as preventative shoes and offer stabilizing properties.

Can Künzli Ortho® and Künzli Protect shoes be repaired or resoled?

Yes. Many models can be resoled or repaired. Whether a repair is possible depends on the specific model and condition of the shoe. Please contact our orthopedic specialist retailers for more information.

How do I best care for Künzli Ortho® and Künzli Protect shoes?

Care depends on the material. Smooth leather should be treated regularly with shoe polish, while suede and nubuck leather should be treated with special sprays. All styles benefit from regular cleaning, care, and waterproofing.
