Our story

A journey through time spanning almost 100 years.

Since 1927, Künzli has left countless traces in sports, everyday life, and shoe culture. Some highlights of this long history are captured here, providing insight into an eventful century.

1927

Founding of Künzli

Werner Künzli opens his first studio in Trimbach. There, he produces ski and sports boots, and soon models for football and ice skating. Thus begins the story of a brand that has shaped sports from the very beginning.

1959

The five stripes

Künzli invents a lacing system with five stripes extending from the floor to the lacing. These provide support for the foot and make our sports shoes unmistakable. This detail becomes a symbol that accompanies us to this day.

1970

On the playing fields

The Swiss national team plays in Künzli. Our football boots with the five stripes represent strength and stability. Those who played back then knew Künzli on the pitch.

1980

Innovation in sports

Künzli developed new technologies such as the sandwich sole, air cushioning, and stabilizers. This resulted in shoes that were gentle on joints and made sports easier. Many of these ideas were far ahead of their time.

2008

Summer Games Beijing

The Swiss Olympic Team wore Künzli sneakers at the Beijing Games. Our shoes combine tradition with a modern appearance on the world stage. For us, this is a proud chapter in our company's history.

2010

Vancouver Winter Games

Swiss athletes also wear Künzli sneakers in Canada. They wear sneakers that combine performance and style. Künzli demonstrates that Swiss sports shoes are internationally recognized.

2021

Revival of the five stripes

After a period without stripes, Künzli is returning to its roots. The iconic lacing is once again a part of our sneakers, tying in with its own history. A classic since 1927.

2025

Künzli bleibt am Ball

Künzli bringt seit Anfang 2025 mehrere neue Modelle auf den Markt. Darunter auch wieder ein Sportschuh für den Golfsport. Sportliche Herkunft und zeitgemässer Lifestyle werden gemeinsam weitergeführt.
